Tom Brady’s Legendary Timepieces and Game-Worn Memorabilia Hit the Auction Block

Tom Brady is collaborating with Sotheby’s to auction a collection of his treasured watches and sports memorabilia, including a highly prized Rolex Daytona expected to fetch as much as $900,000. This collection, titled "GOAT Collection: Watches and Treasures from Tom Brady," brings together some of the quarterback’s finest possessions, each representing key moments in his legendary career.

Among the most anticipated pieces is a late-1960s Rolex Daytona Ref. 6241, famously known as the Paul Newman “John Player Special” due to its black-and-gold design inspired by a 1970s Formula 1 livery. This particular Daytona model is extremely rare, with only a few known to exist. Brady first wore the watch publicly at the start of the 2023 NFL season and later donned it during his induction into the Patriots Hall of Fame.

Reflecting on the significance of the collection, Brady remarked, “As you get older, you realize that time is everything. Where you put your energy reflects your values.” He views this auction as a step beyond his playing career, offering others a chance to acquire items he holds dear. “This is a one-time opportunity,” he added, “and I hope people will take the chance to own something so meaningful from my personal collection.”

In addition to the Rolex, the auction will feature a Richard Mille Ref. RM65-01 with a skeletonized dial, estimated to sell for $250,000 to $450,000, and a rare Patek Philippe TBXII Grand Complication from 1917, expected to bring in $200,000 to $400,000. In total, 21 of Brady’s watches will be available for bidders.

The auction also showcases 20 sports artifacts from Brady’s career, headlined by a game-worn Tampa Bay Buccaneers jersey from a historic 2021 match. In this game, Brady not only broke the NFL’s all-time passing-yards record but also returned to New England as a Buccaneer, making the jersey a highly valuable piece of sports history with an estimated worth of up to $600,000.

Brahm Wachter, Sotheby’s head of modern collectibles, praised the collection as an embodiment of Brady’s exceptional career, stating, “Tom Brady is the undisputed GOAT, and each item in this auction captures not only sports history but also a legacy of unmatched excellence in football."

The Sotheby’s “GOAT Collection” auction is set for a live event in New York on December 10. Ahead of the sale, fans can view the collection in a free exhibition beginning December 5.
