Grand Seiko Enhances Heritage 62GS Sekki Collection with Ever-Brilliant Steel

Upgraded Materials and Refined Design for 2025

Grand Seiko is refining its Heritage 62GS Sekki Collection for 2025, introducing two updated models: the SBGH351 Rikka and SBGH353 Shūbun. These timepieces now feature the brand’s proprietary Ever-Brilliant Steel, a material known for its exceptional corrosion resistance and enhanced luminosity.

A Tribute to Japan’s Seasonal Phases

Originally introduced in 2019, the Sekki collection draws inspiration from Japan’s 24 seasonal phases, or sekki. Each model’s dial color reflects a different period of the year, paying homage to the changing landscapes. While the pink-toned SBGA413 Shunbun and the winter-inspired SBGA415 Taisetsu—both powered by Spring Drive movements—have received widespread recognition, the summer and autumn variants, SBGH271 Rikka and SBGH273 Shūbun, have remained more understated.

Elevated Craftsmanship with Ever-Brilliant Steel

For 2025, Grand Seiko revisits these Hi-Beat models, maintaining the classic 40mm case dimensions while integrating Ever-Brilliant Steel for improved durability and visual brilliance. This advanced alloy surpasses standard stainless steel in corrosion resistance and achieves a mirror-like finish when treated with the brand’s signature Zaratsu polishing technique.

The updated case design stays true to the original 1967 62GS aesthetic, featuring a bezel-free construction and intricately faceted surfaces that create a seamless interplay of light and shadow.

Subtle Dial Refinements

While the movement and case structure remain unchanged, the dial designs receive slight modifications. The SBGH351 Rikka, inspired by summer, now adopts steel-colored hour markers and hands, replacing the gold-tone elements from its predecessor. Meanwhile, the SBGH353 Shūbun, representing autumn, showcases a deeper and more intense blue hue for a richer visual appeal.

Precision at the Core

Both models continue to house the renowned 9S85 Hi-Beat movement, which operates at 36,000 vibrations per hour and offers a 55-hour power reserve. The inclusion of MEMS technology ensures heightened accuracy and long-term reliability, reinforcing Grand Seiko’s dedication to superior craftsmanship.

Availability and Pricing

Set for release in February 2025, the SBGH351 Rikka and SBGH353 Shūbun will be available at a retail price of EUR 8,000. These refined updates bring a new level of sophistication to the 62GS Sekki Collection while preserving the essence of Grand Seiko’s timeless design.
