A 43.2mm Platinum Case for the Triple Split

The platinum case measures 43.2mm in diameter and 15.6mm in thickness, dimensions that reflect the complexity of the movement inside.

Three pushers control the chronograph functions. The pusher at 2 o'clock starts and stops the chronograph, while the pusher at 4 o'clock operates the flyback function, allowing the chronograph to be reset and immediately restarted. A third pusher at 10 o'clock controls the rattrapante mechanism.

When the chronograph is running, three blued-steel split hands travel together with the corresponding primary chronograph hands. Pressing the rattrapante pusher stops the three split hands simultaneously, allowing an intermediate or comparative time to be read while the main chronograph continues running.

Pressing the pusher again releases the split hands. They instantly catch up with their corresponding chronograph hands and resume moving together.

The system allows comparative measurements to be made across seconds, minutes and periods extending to 12 hours.

Rhodium-Coloured Dial With Three Chronograph Displays

The dial is made from solid 925 silver and finished with a rhodium-coloured surface. Darker grey subsidiary dials provide contrast while maintaining the largely monochromatic character of the watch.

The displays follow a 12-4-8 arrangement. The counter at 12 o'clock records elapsed hours, while the counter at 4 o'clock displays elapsed chronograph minutes using a precisely jumping minute hand. The small-seconds display is positioned at 8 o'clock.

At 6 o'clock sits the familiar A. Lange & Söhne UP/DOWN power-reserve indicator, marked AB and AUF.

Several details provide visual differentiation between the multiple indications:

• blued-steel hands identify the split-time functions;

• red accents appear on the hour and minute counters as well as the power-reserve display;

• rhodiumed hour and minute hands and the applied markers at 3, 6, 9 and 12 o'clock feature luminous material;

• a tachymeter scale runs around the dial's outer edge.

Despite the number of indications, the use of different colours and finishes helps distinguish the conventional time display, chronograph indications and rattrapante functions.

How the Triple Split Measures Up to 12 Hours

The technical significance of the Triple Split lies in the three pairs of chronograph hands.

The Triple Split extends the rattrapante principle across three pairs of chronograph hands, covering seconds, minutes and hours.

When the chronograph is activated, the paired hands are superimposed and move together. Activating the rattrapante mechanism stops one hand from each pair, while its counterpart continues measuring elapsed time.

This arrangement means the wearer can record an intermediate time or compare two events lasting as long as 12 hours. Once the split mechanism is released, all three stopped hands catch up with their counterparts.

The watch also incorporates a flyback function. Instead of stopping, resetting and restarting the chronograph through separate operations, the running chronograph can be reset and immediately begin a new measurement.

Calibre L132.1 Uses 567 Components

Powering the Triple Split is A. Lange & Söhne's manually wound manufacture calibre L132.1. The movement consists of 567 components and combines the chronograph, flyback and triple split-time functions within a single calibre.

The calibre operates at 21,600 vibrations per hour, equivalent to 3Hz, and provides a power reserve of up to 55 hours when fully wound.

Its architecture allows the three rattrapante hands to be stopped simultaneously while the corresponding chronograph hands continue to measure elapsed time.

Limited to 100 Platinum Watches

The new Triple Split is paired with a hand-finished dark brown alligator leather strap. It is secured by a platinum deployant buckle and incorporates a quick-change system for the strap.

Production is limited to 100 individually numbered examples.

A. Lange & Söhne is presenting the platinum Triple Split in early September 2026 during the Concours of Elegance at Hampton Court Palace. The platinum model arrives eight years after the original Triple Split made its debut in 2018.

By retaining the L132.1 calibre while introducing a platinum case and rhodium-coloured dial, the latest Triple Split offers a new interpretation of the manufacture's approach to the rattrapante chronograph, capable of comparing elapsed times across seconds, minutes and hours.
