Urwerk Concludes the UR-120 Series with the New Blue Planet Edition
Urwerk has introduced the UR-120 Blue Planet, the third and final instalment in the UR-120 collection that debuted in 2022. The model follows the original steel and titanium version and the darker UR-120 Space Black released a year later.
While the underlying concept remains unchanged, the Blue Planet edition brings a fresh visual identity to the series. As the name suggests, blue takes centre stage throughout the design, giving the watch a noticeably different character while preserving the unconventional display system that has defined the UR-120 from the beginning.

A Blue PVD Steel Case
The new model is housed in a 47mm x 44mm case made from sandblasted steel and finished with a blue PVD coating.
Urwerk has opted not to use titanium in this edition. According to the manufacturer, steel provides a more uniform foundation for the coating process, helping to achieve a consistent finish across the entire case. The distinctive architecture remains instantly recognisable, featuring the sculpted crystal, integrated strap attachments and the crown positioned at 12 o'clock.

The Return of the Split Satellite Hours
The defining feature of the UR-120 collection is its unusual wandering hours display. Unlike conventional satellite systems, the hour blocks on the UR-120 split into two separate sections as they move around the dial.
This complex transformation occurs continuously during operation and highlights the unusual engineering behind the UR-120 display system. The current hour travels across a curved minute scale before disappearing beneath the upper section of the case, while a new hour indication emerges to continue the cycle.
For the Blue Planet edition, Urwerk has emphasised the mechanism through colour contrast. The rotating hour cubes are finished in blue, while key functional components are highlighted with 24-carat gold elements, creating a strong visual contrast.
The carousel system responsible for this indication consists of 175 individual components. All markings on the carousel are coated with luminous material for improved visibility in low-light conditions.

Automatic Movement with Windfänger Rotor
Powering the watch is the automatic calibre UR-20.01.
The calibre operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour and provides a power reserve of approximately 48 hours when fully wound. It is equipped with Urwerk's Windfänger rotor system.
