Drake’s Rolex GMT-Master II Achieves USD 500,000 Sale
A gold Rolex previously owned by Canadian rapper Drake has been sold for USD 500,000, far above the typical market value for the model. The watch was offered by Wind Vintage, a company specialising in collectible vintage timepieces.
According to data from EveryWatch, the final price was approximately five times higher than the average dealer value for the Rolex GMT-Master II reference 116758SANR.
Despite the substantial asking price, interest proved immediate. Wind Vintage reportedly received four purchase offers shortly after listing the watch, with the piece ultimately selling at the full advertised price.
A Watch Linked to Take Care
The Rolex previously appeared in the music video for Marvin’s Room, a track from Drake’s 2011 album Take Care.
The album was later included in Rolling Stone’s list of the 100 greatest albums of all time.
The caseback also features an owl engraving, a symbol Drake later adopted for his lifestyle brand OVO.
Original Condition Helped Drive the Price
Several factors appear to have contributed to the unusually strong result. According to the seller, the watch remained unpolished, a detail often appreciated on the secondary market.
The Rolex was also accompanied by its original box and complete set of documents, further strengthening its appeal to collectors.
