TAG Heuer Carrera Glassbox Chronograph Year of the Fire Horse

TAG Heuer has introduced the Carrera Chronograph Year of the Fire Horse, a limited edition released to mark the arrival of the Year of the Fire Horse in the Chinese zodiac on 17 February 2026. Drawing on the brand’s long standing association with speed and motorsport, the new model applies symbolic colour accents and subtle calendar references to the modern Carrera platform.

Glassbox architecture and case design

The watch belongs to the Carrera Glassbox line, first unveiled in 2023 to coincide with the 60th anniversary of the Carrera collection. This series is defined by its curved sapphire crystal, designed to recall the domed hesalite crystals used on Carrera chronographs of the 1960s and 1970s, while offering contemporary durability and clarity.

The stainless steel case measures 39 mm in diameter and 13.87 mm in thickness, combining brushed and polished surfaces. Classic pump style chronograph pushers flank the case, reinforcing the traditional Carrera profile. Water resistance is rated at 100 metres, placing the watch comfortably within everyday sports watch territory.

Dial layout and colour accents

The champagne coloured dial features a matt sunray finish and is framed by a tachymeter scale positioned on the outer edge. A seconds and minutes track runs along the inner perimeter, maintaining the clear and balanced layout associated with the Carrera chronograph.

Applied hour markers are finished in rose gold tone and complemented by luminous dots at their base. The hour and minute hands follow the same gold tone treatment and include discreet luminous inserts for low light legibility.

At three o’clock, the 30 minute chronograph counter stands out in red with gold coloured numerals. This accent is echoed by the red lacquered central chronograph seconds hand and the date aperture, which features a red background framed in gold.

A distinctive detail appears within the date display, where the numeral seven is replaced by the Chinese character for horse. The choice is deliberate, as the horse occupies the seventh position in the twelve animal cycle of the Chinese zodiac.

Caseback and movement

The sapphire crystal caseback is decorated with an image of a galloping horse, reinforcing the thematic focus of the edition. Beneath it sits the calibre TH20 07, an automatic chronograph movement equipped with a column wheel and a bidirectional shield shaped rotor.

Operating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, the movement delivers a power reserve of approximately 80 hours, aligning it with the current generation of in house TAG Heuer chronograph calibres.

Bracelet, production and pricing

The Carrera Chronograph Year of the Fire Horse is supplied on a seven row stainless steel bracelet with beads of rice style links, a design that further strengthens the model’s connection to historic Carrera references.

Production is limited to 250 pieces. Indicative pricing is set at around €8,100, $7,850 or CNY 64,400, positioning the watch as a collectible seasonal release within the modern Carrera chronograph range.
