Seiko Brings Power Design Project Exhibition Back to London
Seiko is returning to Japan House London with a new edition of its Power Design Project, offering visitors a closer look at the creative work of the brand's in-house designers.
The exhibition, titled Passionately and Obsessively Crafted Watches, will run from 27 August to 15 September 2026 at Japan House London on Kensington High Street. Admission is free.
Rather than presenting a conventional collection of new commercial releases, the exhibition focuses on watch concepts created to explore individual components, design ideas and different approaches to finishing.
Seiko Designers Focus on Dials, Hands and Surface Finishes
For 2026, the Power Design Project centres on the individual elements that define the appearance of a watch.
Seiko's designers have experimented with dial textures, hand designs and intricate surface finishes, using the exhibition as a platform to explore ideas without the constraints of a standard product development brief.
The concept pieces demonstrate the creative thinking behind watch design, showing how familiar components can be reinterpreted through textures, finishes and different visual approaches.
The exhibition is not primarily intended as a preview of future Seiko collections. Instead, it gives the company's designers the freedom to draw on their own interests rather than follow a specific brief or current trends.
Concept Watches Take Priority Over Commercial Releases
The Power Design Project places creative experimentation ahead of immediate commercial product development.
Although some popular concepts from previous editions have subsequently been brought to life, the central purpose of the programme is creative exploration rather than launching new watches.
That makes the exhibition different from a conventional product launch. The concept pieces allow Seiko's designers to investigate new ideas while highlighting the creativity and craftsmanship behind Japanese watchmaking.
The project also gives visitors an opportunity to examine watch design from the perspective of individual components, rather than focusing solely on the finished timepiece.
Third Consecutive Year at Japan House London
The 2026 exhibition marks the third consecutive year that Seiko has presented the Power Design Project at Japan House London.
The venue promotes Japanese culture, design and innovation through a programme of exhibitions and events, making it a natural setting for a project centred on the creative side of Japanese watchmaking.
The exhibition also continues the partnership between Seiko and Japan House London, bringing the watchmaker's experimental design work to a setting dedicated to Japanese creativity and craftsmanship.
