A Tribute to Watchmaking Origins
The winning piece, known as the School Watch, was created by Victor Monnin and Alexandre Hazemann as a tribute to the watchmaking school in Morteau, where the two first met and developed their craft.
Presented in a 39.5 mm case, the watch combines inspiration with mechanical sophistication. It features a movement equipped with an hourly striking mechanism alongside an instantaneous jumping hour display, demonstrating a balance between technical complexity and clear design intent.
The Louis Vuitton Watch Prize
Launched in 2024, the Louis Vuitton Watch Prize is held every two years and is dedicated to supporting independent watchmakers at pivotal stages of their development.
The winner receives a financial award of €150,000, along with a year-long mentorship programme provided by experts from La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton. In addition to technical guidance, the programme includes support in areas such as marketing and brand development.
Supporting Independent Watchmaking
By recognising Hazemann & Monnin, the 2026 award reinforces the importance of independent creators within the wider watch industry. The combination of financial support and mentorship offers a meaningful platform for further growth, enabling young brands to refine both their technical capabilities and their identity.
As the Louis Vuitton Watch Prize continues to develop, it is expected to play an increasingly important role in supporting the next generation of independent watchmakers.
