Only Watch Charity Auction Put on Hold

One of the watch world’s most celebrated charity events may no longer be part of the annual calendar. The organisers of Only Watch have announced that the auction is currently on hold, having reached significant milestones in its mission to combat Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD).

Since its inception in 2005, the biennial Only Watch auction has raised nearly €130 million through 10 auction events. These funds, managed by the Monaco Association Against Muscular Dystrophy (AMM-Only Project), have enabled substantial progress in the treatment and understanding of DMD, a genetic disorder affecting approximately 1 in 3,500 boys worldwide. This severe condition leads to progressive muscle degeneration, loss of mobility, and a shortened lifespan.

Advances in Treatment and Research

The AMM-Only Project is currently funding first-in-human clinical trials for a new therapeutic approach to DMD. Additionally, the organisation supports research focused on improving diagnosis and understanding of the disease, aiming to bring hope and new options for those affected.

The Legacy of Only Watch in the World of Haute Horlogerie

Luc Pettavino, one of the driving forces behind Only Watch, reflected on the auction's impact: “Across ten auctions, more than 440 unique timepieces have been sold, each contributing to the haute horlogerie segment in profound ways. Beyond the record-breaking sales, Only Watch has fostered a spirit of empathy and unity in the global watch community.”

Over nearly two decades, Only Watch has not only advanced DMD research but also set new standards in watchmaking, with brands creating unique, often groundbreaking pieces for each auction.
