The Final Konstantin Chaykin White Rabbit Watch Heads to Auction

The last of the six Konstantin Chaykin White Rabbit watches, a series inspired by Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, is set to be offered at the Ineichen auction in Zurich. The model stands among the most mechanically elaborate creations in Chaykin’s contemporary portfolio and represents a playful yet intellectually structured interpretation of Wonderland’s themes.

A Transformative Case and Sixteen Complications

The White Rabbit Watch made its debut in 2023 as a hybrid timepiece capable of being worn either on the wrist or as a pocket watch. This convertible construction is in line with Chaykin’s interest in creating watches that can reconfigure their character while retaining a consistent visual identity.

The movement houses sixteen complications. This places the model close to the complexity found in the celebrated Wristmons high complication pieces such as the Starry Complication, while exceeding them in component count. The calibre comprises 691 individual parts, a figure that underscores the technical ambition of the watch.

Alongside the signature Joker type display that defines the expressive Wristmons family, the White Rabbit incorporates a newly developed perpetual calendar, a day and night indication, sunrise and sunset indications and what Chaykin describes as a suspended time mechanism. When activated by a pusher positioned on the left flank of the case, the pupils of the rabbit’s eyes rotate to the six o’clock position. This frozen moment alludes to the scene in Carroll’s story where the Hatter exists in a world in which time is permanently fixed at six o’clock.

Design Rooted in Narrative

The watch is housed in a titanium case measuring 42 millimetres in diameter and 18 millimetres in height. The elongated ears of the rabbit are integrated into the case construction and serve as mounting points for a chain when the watch is configured for pocket wear. The expressive form is complemented by Chaykin’s characteristic approach to anthropomorphic watch design, in which the dial becomes a face that communicates both time and personality.

The Final Piece at Ineichen

The sixth and final White Rabbit Watch will be auctioned on 13 December 2025 by Ineichen in Zurich. In addition to the timepiece, a separate lot will feature a painting created by Konstantin Chaykin. The artwork was conceived as a metaphor for the development of the White Rabbit project and takes its thematic cues from the seventh chapter of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, which explores the concept of time through surreal and philosophical dialogue.

Together, the watch and the painting represent a synthesis of horology, literature and visual art, highlighting the interdisciplinary character that increasingly defines Chaykin’s most imaginative work.
